The window seat is the best seat. There, I said it. With in-flight Wi-Fi available on almost every flight these days, it’s hard to resist the urge to connect to the internet and play on your phone the whole time, but for me, few things can top staring out at the clouds & landscape and photographing it from 35,000+ feet. And, maybe unplugging for a bit isn’t the worst thing…
The skies were littered with impressive cloud formations and countless storms on my Southwest flights to and from LAX, which was perfect. I’ve always wanted to fly over, above, and through some thunderstorms, and I finally got my wish.
The turbulence wasn’t too bad, but flying so close to these huge clouds was spectacular. And thanks to the app Flyover Country (which doesn’t need to be connected to the internet, btw) I could identify many of the mountains, cities, and geologic features I photographed
