McHenry Riverwalk District | Hitchcock Design Group
Amy and I recently drove out to McHenry to photograph Hitchcock Design Group‘s latest landscape architecture project within McHenry’s Riverwalk District. The latest addition to the district is The McHenry Riverwalk Shoppes. Located at at Miller Point Park, the charming promenade features 10 storefront structures. Each serves as a small business incubator for emerging local vendors. While setting up, one particular shop caught my eye, @thepiecefulproject. Their shop was filled with all sorts of Legos. Amy snagged an incredible NASA Artemis Space Launch System set for me as a gift for my upcoming birthday.
Hitchcock Design Group’s vision for the new park additions features intricate paving, a fun splash pad, a welcoming gateway, and seamless integration of the shop promenade with the rest of Miller Point and the pre-existing riverwalk infrastructure.
What’s even more inspiring is the collaboration with the community and local high school students. They helped design, draft, and prefabricate elements of the shops with the main architect. This truly was a community-driven effort. Amy and I spent an entire afternoon and evening capturing the park’s from every angle, both on the ground and from the air with a drone. If you’re up that way, stop by and check it out. Here are some of my favorite shots
