McHugh Concrete in action at 1000M
1000M – one of Helmut Jahn’s final designs – is currently under construction along Michigan Avenue near the southern end of Grant Park. Once complete, the 73-story skyscraper will reach 805′ into the sky. And my friends at McHugh Concrete are the ones pouring this skyscraper floor by floor. If you’re unfamiliar, here’s are some update photos of the tower as-of February 21st
Last August I visited the 1000M jobsite to photograph a slab pour for McHugh Concrete’s new website and related marketing collateral. They were in the middle of developing their website and needed some updated action photos of their team doing what they do best – pouring and setting concrete. ‘Up top’ I was able to capture a few photos of them in action pouring the tallest concrete skyscraper currently under construction in Chicago.
Finished project photos are always rewarding to take, but to me, this is where the magic happens. Being on-site, watching and documenting raw materials turn into a skyscraper is a sight to behold.
